Set up an email accounts in Microsoft Outlook

This article will show you how to set up email on Microsoft Outlook. This will apply to Microsoft Office 2003, 2007, 2010 and 2013.



Requirements:

Before you start, you will need these details:

Your email address: username@example.com

Your email password.

Your POP3/IMAP and SMTP server. (This can be found at Email tab in your control panel) (example: XXXXX.your_domain.com)





How to configure email account on Microsoft Outlook?

1. Go to Control Panel in My Computer.

2. Click on Mail or Mail(32 bits) button.

3. Click on Show Profiles.

4. Click on Add and give your new Profile a name (e.g. your name).

5. Select Manual setup or additional server types.

6. Select POP or IMAP.

7. Fill in the details:

   a. Name: (Enter your name)

   b. E-mail Address: (Enter your email address)

   c. Account Type: Please refer to the Notes for more information.

   d. Incoming mail server: Please refer to your control panel for the mail server. (example: XXXXX.your_domain.com)

   e. Outgoing mail server (SMTP): Please refer to your control panel for the mail server. (example: XXXXX.your_domain.com)

   f. User Name: (Enter your full email address)

   g. Password: (Enter your email password)

8. Click on More Settings...

9. Go to Outgoing Server tab.

  a. Select Use same settings as my incoming mail server.

10. Go to Advanced Tab.

  a. Change the Outgoing Server (SMTP) from 25 to 587.

  b. If you have chosen POP3, Outlook have this feature to let you leave a copy of the emails on the server for a number of days.

11. Click OK and exit the pop up and click on Test Account Settings...

12. Once the verification is done, you can exit from here and open Outlook to access your emails.





Notes:

Select IMAP if you are using more than one device to access your emails. (e.g. handphones and email applications)

Select POP3 if you using one device to access your emails as it downloads emails to one application and it will not show in another device.
